Nikah (marriage)

We perform nikah ceremonies at the masjid. Every nikah must be booked in advance.

How to book

  1. Download and fill in the nikah form. Nikah form (PDF)
  2. Attach passport copies for both the bride and groom.
  3. Hand it in at least 14 days before the nikah. Bring it to the office (weekdays, 5:00pm to 6:15pm) or email a scan to nikah@ilfordmuslimsociety.org.
  4. Pay the £101 fee in full when you hand in the form.

Please note

  • Foreign passport holders must also provide a visa showing the right to remain in the UK, or a civil marriage certificate from the local register office.
  • We do not issue marriage certificates to foreign nationals.
  • A nikah needs the consent of both bride and groom, two adult witnesses, and a representative of the bride.
  • The groom gives the bride a mahr (marriage gift). It can be money, property or other items, paid at the nikah, deferred, or part of each. Moderation is encouraged.

The nikah email is for bookings and general questions only. Questions of fiqh are not answered by email.
